What is laser grading?

Laser grading is a highly accurate land leveling method that uses a rotating laser transmitter and a receiver mounted on the grading blade. As the blade moves across the field, it automatically adjusts up or down in real time to match a pre-set target elevation - delivering a consistently level surface within a fraction of an inch.

Unlike conventional grading where the operator estimates and adjusts manually, laser grading removes the guesswork entirely. The result is a surface that drains correctly, compacts evenly, and performs the way it's supposed to - whether you're planting crops, building a pad, or solving a drainage problem.

Laser grading is the go-to solution for Florida landowners who need reliable results on fields, lots, and sites where precision really matters.

Our Laser Grading equipment

We use a Kubota SVL97-3 track loader equipped with a Level Best dual-slope precision grading blade — a purpose-built laser grading setup designed for accurate, consistent results. The track-drive machine handles soft or uneven Florida terrain with ease, and the Level Best blade automatically adjusts in real time based on the laser signal, delivering a finish grade you can count on.

Advantages of using Laser Grading

  • Far greater accuracy - tolerances within ⅛ inch across the entire surface.
  • Reduces water waste on irrigated fields by ensuring even water distribution.
  • Eliminates standing water and poor drainage caused by uneven ground.
  • Fewer passes needed, meaning less fuel, less time, and less soil disturbance.
  • Works on large open fields as well as smaller residential or commercial lots.
  • Produces a stable, consistent base that's ready for construction, planting, or paving.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to complete a laser grading project?

A lot of different factors come into play. The project timeline depends on the size of the area, how much cut and fill is required, soil conditions, and what kind of finish grade you need.

What is the difference between laser grading and conventional grading?

Laser grading uses a laser-guided system to automatically control the blade height in real time, achieving tolerances within a fraction of an inch. Conventional grading relies on the operator's eye and manual adjustments, which can result in uneven surfaces that require additional passes or rework.

Can you work with residential and commercial properties?

Yes, we can.
